I Hate This Hot Dog

Baby Leigh made it very clear that she did not enjoy wearing her costume as much as everyone else seemed to enjoy her wearing it.

Happy Halloween

Today was a big day for everyone. After the school Halloween parade earlier in the day, we had a great time at the neighborhood party, where we saw everyone from Indiana Jones to Pocahontas to the Tin Man. Then it was on to the real business of the day, trick or treating in the cul-de-sac.

Trick or Treat: The Aftermath

After the candy round-up in the cul-de-sac, the kids took stock of their stash and enjoyed a Sugarfest. At the end of the evening, Hunter exclaimed, "I can't wait until Christmas and Easter!"

The School Field Trip

I had the honor of being one of the designated Mommy-drivers to the pumpkin farm for the school field trip yesterday. While on the hayride to the pumpkin field, we encountered some pretty interesting characters. Unfortunately, I discovered that morning that Hunter has outgrown his winter coat from last year, hence the stylish orange hat and 2-coat attire.

Fun with Leigh and Serpil

Serpil does a great job, both at entertaining Leigh during the week and at capturing the fun with her camera. These pictures complements of Serpil.

Halloween Preparedness Training

All this, and it's not even Halloween yet...

Overheard in Target

Overheard while Jackie & Hunter walked through the aisles at Target, arm in arm:

Jackie: "Hunter, I just tooted."
Hunter: "I'm about to toot."

Cameron & Leigh

Sometimes words just aren't necessary.

The Giant Slide

The Giant Slide was a huge hit at the pumpkin farm. The kids thought the 30-minute wait in line was definitely worth the 3 seconds of thrills & sheer fun inside the big tube.

Boys Will Be Boys

What started off as an innocent duck race between the kids morphed into a Daddy Duck-Off before we knew it. Even the innocent bystanders were amazed at what boneheads these guys were over the duck race.

Pumpkins for Everyone

We all packed up and headed to the pumpkin farm in Youngsville yesterday. The highlight was riding on bales of hay out to the pumpkin patch, where everybody got to pick out their own special pumpkin.

Happy Birthday, Miss Marilyn!

Tonight we had a birthday party for our dear friend, Miss Marilyn. No one seemed to notice that she is in San Diego and we are in Durham. Our gang was just excited that party horns and hats were involved.

Pinata Party!

Tonight was Mexican Party Night--for no special reason other than we love parties and to keep ourselves busy & distracted while Miss Allie is away in Vegas. After an upscale dinner of Moo Moo Mr. Cow burritos from Moe's, the kids each got plenty of time swinging the baseball bat at the shark pinata (which had been hand-picked by Hunter at Party City and subsequently stuffed with LOTS of candy). JBird slugged the initial whack that broke his head, and she & Hunter took turns finishing the job. The kids loved it, at least until the sugar comas set in.
