T-Ball Revisited

Is it time for T-Ball again already? And who's that we see out on the field through the cage--could it be Coach Chad? YES to all of the above. Before he could say "No Way!", Coach Brian threw a red shirt on Chad's back and appointed him Assistant Coach. Although it has cut into his hunting schedule a wee bit, I think the Assistant Coach has had a really big time out on the field with his boy.

In keeping with last season, Leigh & I have enjoyed being Faithful Spectators and Loyal Snack-Bringers. Leigh took a brief moment to stop concentrating on the game so intensely and allow Mommy to have a quick photo shoot.

And Hunter has firmly decided that T-Ball is more fun that soccer.

Letter from Nanny

Last week, Leigh--with a little help from her teachers--mailed Nanny & Grandaddy and Nana & Papa special cards to remember them on Grandparents' Day. Per the invitation to write back and come visit, Nanny sent this note to the class:
To our New Friends,

We were so happy to get such a pretty card and note for Grandparents' Day. One of the best gifts that God has given us are our grandchildren and the love that they share with us.

When Leigh comes to our house, we go to our creek and throw rocks in it. We make a camp in our basement, and play with jewelry and makeup. Sometimes we go to the park and ride the rides and have a picnic. The best part of the day is when we snuggle at night and tell ”Gertie Ghost” stories that we make up.

When we have our prayers we always say “Thank you, God, for each other.”

We would love to come and visit sometime.

Our Love,

Nanny and Grandaddy Pinson (Leigh Messick’s grandparents)

Neigborhood Thespians

Last weekend the cul-de-sac families gathered at Dave & Allison's to eat, drink, & be merry together. After dinner, the kids treated us to a wonderful live, outdoor drama that they performed especially for us. Here the Mommies, Daddies, and our neighborhood Grandmother watched from the screened porch.

The show had all the elements of a great tragedy:
Damsels in Distress Exciting Chase Scenes The Hold-Up
Swashbuckling Sword Fights
The Agony of Defeat
Afterwards, we managed to get the entire troupe together to pose for a standing ovation from the crowd on the porch. Jackie, clearly self-conscious about being photographed, succumbed for the greater good.

First Day of Preschool

With much concealed anticipation from Mommy, Leigh and Cameron started preschool this week. Despite her rock-solid resolve to not move from my lap or look at her teachers at the playdate last week, Leigh was very excited this week about starting real school. I suspect it had something to do with being able to parade around in her new Cinderella Pack-Back, as she calls it.

After having a good breakfast and getting the Pack-Back loaded with a mid-morning snack, we went over to meet our classmate and BFF, Cameron. Equally as excited as Leigh before the big drop-off, this Dynamic Duo apparently had a good cry together after Miss Allie left. At least they pulled it together enough to last the whole morning, sparing us Mommies an emergency pick-up call from the school staff. Here's hoping for a fun day tomorrow...
