Attack of the Sillies

This evening we exchanged entertainment from High School Musical 2 to dinner with Nanny, Grandaddy, & Deane--so there was great promise for a big night. We started out with a special blessing of gratitude for Baby Sooryeo and a prayer for Miss Allie's and Grandma Sharon's safe return from Seoul. After that special moment, it all deteriorated. Maybe it had something to do with our attempt to make this creative cake, which looked more like a small intestine than the caterpillar in the picture.

Of course, none of the kids minded. It was, in fact, yet another opportunity to eat icing and sprinkles.
The Littles decided to put Dee in Time Out and to fix Nanny's hair and make-up (with black caterpillar icing).
"Dee! We Got Trouble!!" shouted Cameron when he spotted the Robin mask stuck in the palm tree.

Jackie tried to bring some culture back into the evening, but it was too late: the boys were already busy beating the crap out of each other in the background.

Leigh thought it would be fun to lick icing off of Dee's nose...

...while Cameron thought it would be a scream to put his shirt on upside down.

All in all, this laugh-a-minute, riot-filled night was almost too much for Hunter, who just couldn't contain it any longer.

Tick Tock

We started Day 2 of the Waiting Week at 7 am reading Miss Allie's post about meeting Baby Sooryeo. Hunter and Leigh were completely absorbed in the pictures, and Leigh keeps telling me how excited she is that she's getting a baby sister. I let her down gently that the baby will actually live at Jackie & Cameron's house, but left it at that.
Dee got a book about adoption from the library, and read it to the Bigs this afternoon.

Jackie was interested enough, but Hunter was so bored he contemplated ending it all with his Star Wars gun.

Cameron had no part of this book, opting to dump out the box of cars instead.

And Mr. Dave tried to save his vision by extracting Leigh's foot from his eye socket.

So guess what our after-dinner entertainment was? High School Musical 2!! Lucky for us grown-ups, this is one of those rare movies that just gets better and better every time you watch it.
Except for the different clothes, the scene was identical to the one yesterday after dinner. HURRY HOME, Chad and Allison! We don't know how much more HSM-2 we can take!!

Home Sweet Home: The Status Quo

This week's posts are dedicated to Miss Allie and Mr. Chad, who are in 2 very different parts of the world for 2 very different reasons: Miss Allie in Seoul with Grandma Sharon, to get our eagerly-awaited baby girl; and Mr. Chad in Florida to say goodbye to a dear aunt who passed away over the weekend. This collision of events has left me & Mr. Dave--arguably the least responsible of our respective unions--to hold down the fort.

So, here's some snapshots to make us feel like we're not so far apart for the next few days. As you can see, the kids were as happy as JuneBugs tonight.
Of course, they are still as smart and well-dressed as ever. In case you can't see the detail, Jackie is wearing candy-corn pants and Leigh is wearing no pants with cherry boots.

"Hey Mommy!! We can't wait to teach our baby sister how to do this!!!"

High School Musical 2 is still all the rage, and Jackie is still standing in front of the speaker because it's not loud enough.

Cameron remains in the zone when a movie is playing, although he found a cheap substitute for Happy & Spanky to watch with him.Hunter's legs are still covered with bites. And I'm still overbuying cheese from Sam's...and much to my dismay, Chad spotted the duplicate before he left for the airport tonight. I was hoping to sneak it over to the fridge next door before he caught this terrible blunder, but I was too late.
