Happy 70th, Deane!!

Allison & Dave hosted a magnificent surprise bash to celebrate Deane's 70th birthday, AND the kids managed to keep it a secret for weeks.  So when Dee walked into the house to find nearly 40 of her closest buddies huddled in the kitchen, it truly was a surprise!

Happy Birthday, Deane--you're the greatest!!

Lobsters, Monsters, and Dinosaurs

We had the good fortune recently to be at home when Miss Patty--the recipient of a Maine live lobster birthday dinner--was out of town. Being the helpful neighbors that we are, we reluctantly agreed to retrieve the styrofoam cooler upon delivery and eat her birthday dinner so it wouldn't spoil on her doorstep.
The grown-ups among us were thrilled with the surprise crustaceans, but the kids weren't so sure.

While Lucy kept herself at bay from the MONSTERS in the box, Robbie was completely enthralled by  those DINOSAURS!!

Jackie-Mommy did her best to comfort Leigh, who was clearly traumatized by this arrival.

Those of you who know Allison will immediately recognize her as the element that doesn't belong in the picture. At least without an EpiPen, that is. But she did make a brief appearance to witness the occasion before her bronchioles betrayed her.

Thanks, Miss Patty--We can't wait until your next birthday!!

Captain Jim

We didn't let the Memorial Day boat crowds keep us from having an awesome ride on Mr. Jim's boat.

Cheers!!

Morehead Memorial Day

We were all excited to visit with our buddies down at their place in Morehead over the Memorial Day weekend.

Although Mommy & Miss Connie thoroughly enjoyed lounging with their Coronas, the boys were all about the skimboarding.

Even Mr. Chad got in on the action...

Tubing was also big fun, as you can see by the expression on the guys' faces, who incidentally, had gotten a little carried away with the colored zinc oxide.

Aesop's Fables

After weeks of hard work memorizing his lines, we were thrilled to watch Hunter in his theatrical debut as Second Mouse during the Aesop's Fables show at school this week.

I Get By With A LIttle Help From My Na'vi

Luckily for Mr. Chad, a local tribe of Na'vi was available to help him build some new shelves for the Man Cave.

After all that hard construction work, the Na'vi headed back to Pandora for some well-deserved R&R.
