Lucy is Three!

We celebrated Lucy's 3rd birthday tonight, complete with with mounds of fried okra from Q-Shack and Hello Kitty cake.

Back To School

So the kids went back to school today, Hunter in 2nd grade, and Leigh now in real school. I'll spare you the emotion, but suffice it to say that having both of my babies gone most of the day is a big adjustment for Mama Bear.

Family Pictures

Nana hired a professional photographer to take some family pictures during our visit. Our job was to dress our own unit in a consistent color, so here we are looking Good in Green.

Convinced that she was All That, Leigh was happy to model her green scarf. 

Hunter & his cousins took some time out from the photo shoot to tool around the back yard in Nana's UTV.

Cousins

The kids had a ball playing with their Nashville cousins, although a quick siesta was in order for Leigh before she could really seize the day.

Hunter got a kick out of picking Russell's mandolin, while Leigh was just happy to be sleeping on a Hello Kitty pillow case.

Flying The Friendly Skies

Our last bash before the start of school was a trip to visit Nana & Papa in Nashville, which entailed the kids' first-ever airplane experience.

Much to Chad's dismay, I insisted on capturing the moment and taking pictures at the airport.

Once up in the air, Leigh was captivated by the iPad, much like her existence on the ground.

The Shack

We were lucky enough one sunny morning to charter a Three-Boat Floatilla out to Shackleford Banks for a little R&R. 

Co-Captains Hunter & Sandy at the helm here, while Leigh kicks back and enjoys the ride.

Our arrival at the shore was greeted by a running pack of wild horses, not something we see every day.

Miss Elizabeth, clearly off Nanny duty for a while, enjoyed the moment with a modest sip of Chardonnay.
